Purchasing Images

How to Purchase: Use the form at the bottom of each image page to purchase publishable quality photographs. The Motorsports Hall of Fame will send a non-refundable invoice to the email provided on the order form that must be paid electronically before delivering the images. DO NOT include credit card information with your order.

How to Request Specific Images: Each image has a unique Identifier number. This Identifier number will display below the image (such as “NSC188Daytona001c").

In your request, include the Identifier, whether the purchase is for non-commercial single use, non-commercial multiple use, or commercial use.

Prices: Non-Commercial Single Use: $40 per image. Non-Commercial Multiple Use: $200 per image. Commercial Use: $300 per image. Non-Commercial Single Use: Individuals (including for personal research), car clubs, historical societies, and museums may purchase images at the non-commercial rate.

Licensing: The license is for the primary purpose of one-time publication of a purchased image in any physical and digital format, including books, magazines, newsletters, and digital publications, and for one-time use in film, TV, streaming (including YouTube, Vimeo, etc.), or video broadcast, for any language, worldwide.

Non-Commercial Multiple Use: Individuals (including for personal research), car clubs, historical societies, and museums may purchase images at the non-commercial rate. Licensing is for the primary purpose of multiple uses at any time in any physical and digital format, including books, magazines, newsletters, and digital publications, and for use in film, TV, streaming (including YouTube, Vimeo, etc.), or video broadcast, for any language, worldwide.

Commercial Use: Licensing for one-time use, multiple, and perpetual use in an auction, marketing campaign, or sales activity, including selling automobiles, automobilia, clothing, and more. Photographs may not be resold.

Rush Fees: There are no rush fees.

Reselling: Users may not resell images in any format for any purpose.

Image Use: Users are permitted within their license to adjust the colors as they prefer on their own computers but otherwise may not modify or alter them without prior written permission.

Copyright: All images are protected by copyright and/or related rights. Users are free to use the images in any way that is permitted by the copyright and related rights legislation that applies to their use. For other uses you need to obtain permission from the Motorsports Hall of Fame. You are responsible for your own use.

Image Quality: Files are sold as an unwatermarked TIFF digital file, approximately 4,000 pixels on the long dimension at 600 dpi and 48-bit depth.

Format: The Museum sells only digital TIFF files and will not make any physical copies such as prints.

Color Shifting and Imperfections: The images are digitized for archival purposes. The digital file is a faithful representation of the physical image at the time of scanning, includes any imperfections, including color shifting or scratches, on the original image, and is not retouched or edited for aesthetics. Many of the images are decades-old color negatives. It is a natural process for the dyes in color films to fade over time, and the rates at which they decay differ. Cyan, magenta, and yellow dyes decay at different rates, which can cause the overall image to shift towards one color. This can result in an image that is reddish or another color. The images are scanned as they are, with no attempt to adjust for the color shifting. Users are permitted within their license to adjust the colors as they prefer on their own computers.

Delivery: Processing time depends on the complexity of the order, but most orders are filled in 3 business days.

Contribution Copy: The Motorsports Hall of Fame requests a complimentary copy of any book using its images.

Volume Discount: Orders of 10 or more images receive a 10% discount on the total order.

Credit: Users must include the complete citation found at the bottom of image page.
